Guide for contractors

Why fast follow up wins foundation jobs.

A homeowner who just found a crack is looking at it right now. The contractor who answers first is the one they remember. Here is why speed matters and how to get faster without living on your phone.

The short answer

Speed to lead means how fast you respond after a homeowner asks for help. The first helpful answer often wins, because homeowners contact more than one company and book with the one that treats the problem as urgent.

Why speed matters

A homeowner asks for help while the worry is fresh. They may send the same request to several companies. The first call that comes in, from a real person who listens, tells them someone will take care of it. Every hour of waiting gives the homeowner time to talk to someone else.

Why contractors are slow

It is not laziness. Foundation work happens under houses and in crawl spaces. Hands are dirty and the phone is in the truck. Calls get missed, and the homeowner is gone by the time the crew comes up.

Three ways to get faster

  • An automatic text the moment a request arrives, so the homeowner knows someone is on it.
  • A phone alert that tells you a new homeowner is waiting, with the name and number.
  • A set time each day, such as lunch and end of day, when you call everyone who asked.

Keep following up

Many homeowners do not answer the first call. A polite second and third try over the next days by text and by phone brings back some who would have been lost. Stop when they say stop.

How this works at LaCo Media

Our system contacts each homeowner automatically within a minute, day or night, and keeps following up. Your phone buzzes when a new homeowner is sent to you, so you can call while they are still looking. See how it works and the full list on the services page.

A short script for the first call

Keep it calm and short. Say who you are, say you got their request about the foundation, and ask what they noticed first. Listen to the answer. Then offer a time to come and look. You do not need to quote on the phone. The goal of the first call is a booked inspection, nothing more.

What to do when the homeowner does not answer

Leave a short voicemail with your name and number, and send a text saying the same. Try again later the same day and again the next day. Homeowners are at work, in meetings, or screening unknown numbers. A message that is friendly and specific gets a reply more often than one that sounds like a form letter.

Why the first minute matters most

Attention fades fast. A homeowner who has just sent a request is on their phone and thinking about the problem. A few minutes later they are back at work, at dinner or on the school run. An automatic reply that arrives inside a minute catches them while they are still paying attention and makes it more likely they will answer your call when it comes.

That is why our system acts first and you act second. The text goes out inside a minute, and your call, an hour or a day later, lands on a homeowner who already knows your name.

Questions

Asked by contractors.

How fast should I call a foundation repair lead?

As fast as you can. Minutes beat hours, and hours beat days.

What if I cannot answer because I am on a job?

Use an automatic text so the homeowner hears from you right away, then call as soon as you are out.

How many times should I follow up?

A few polite tries over several days by text and phone. Stop as soon as the homeowner asks you to.

Does LaCo Media follow up for me?

Yes. Our system contacts each homeowner within a minute and keeps following up. You make the call that books the inspection.
